TWO NEW TERMINALS FOR KRISHNAPATNAM PORT SOON

The Krishnapatnam Port, Nellore will soon have a Ro-Ro Terminal, liquid bulk terminal, bunkering, rig repairing and offshore facilities, the Managing Director of the port, Chintha Sasidhar has said.

Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (independent charge), Jitendra Singh, attended Swachhandhra Pradesh programme and skill development programmes organised at the Krishnapatnam port recently. On this occasion, Chintha Sasidhar said that the two new terminals, bunkering, rig repairing and offshore facilities will play a catalytic role in bringing down industrial revolution in the region, by becoming the gateway for exports, imports and supporting associated companies and zones such as SEZs, logistic parks and thermal power plants etc.

Later in the day, Jitendra Singh inaugurated tailoring, welding and few self-employment programmes for the benefit of the local youth. He also launched innovative process at the port, under the Ease of Doing Business (EDB) initiative, named as e-VMS (e-Visitor Management System). The new e-VMS will ensure a safe and hassle-free entry process for the visitors to the port.

Through this, all delegates and visitors can be rest assured to be given visitor permits in a jiffy, as all the required information like the identity proofs and the purpose of the visits would be stored in the database of the system, thus making the port easily accessible.
