Bapu (Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana) has been a favorite for all of us catering to his mastery in direction, art and cartoons. The ace film director closely portrayed the sensitive aspects of life and relationships in a very subtle manner and the audience absolutely adored his brilliant work on the screen. Here is a list of some beautiful masterpieces made by Bapu:


PELLI PUSTAKAM (1991):

This is one of those classics from Bapu – Ramana, starring Rajendra Prasad and Divyavani in the lead roles. This comedy drama romance film turned out to be a blockbuster and received the State Nandi award.

SRI RAMANJANEYA YUDDHAM (1975):

This 1975-released classic starring the legendary N.T. Rama Rao revolves around the the story of Lord Hanuman saving King Yayati against Lord Rama in Tretha Yuga.

MUTYALA MUGGU (1975):

Another drama from Bapu – Ramana combination, this 1975-released film is an adaptation of Uttara Ramayana. Starring Sreedhar, Sangeeta, Rao Gopal Rao, Mukkamala, Allu Ramalingaiah and Nutan Prasad, this film bagged two National Awards.

SAMPOORNA RAMAYANAM (1971):

Starring Sobhan Babu, Chandrakala and Gummadi, this film was a huge commerical hit. It was a total mythological concept based on Valmiki’s Ramayana.

MISTER PELLAM (1993):

This film was a commercial hit at the box office back in 1993, starring Rajendra Prasad, Aamani, AVS and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam. It bagged the National Award for Best feature film.

ANDALA RAMUDU (1973):

Based on the story of Janata Express by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, this was an ANR classic and hosted debut for Nutan Prasad and Latha Sethupathi. This film also won the National Award for Best feature film.

SITA KALYANAM (1976):

Scripted by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana again, Sita Kalyanam is an epic, mythological, drama film. The film primarily deals with the wedding and Sita and Rama and the Ten incarnations of Vishnu and this film won Filmfare for best direction.

BUDDIMANTHUDU (1969):

Starring ANR, Krishnam Raju and Vijaya Nirmala in the lead roles, this was a 1969-released drama film that revolves around atheism and beliefs.

MANA VOORI PANDAVULU (1978):

This also comes from the Bapu – Ramana combo and it deals with the struggle against the feudal system and the legendary combo dealt with the concept in their own unique way.

RADHA KALYANAM (1981):

Radham Kalyanam was released in 1981 and it was a drama film, also written by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana. Thus far, this is one of the best Telugu films ever made according to critics.
