AGE LIMIT FOR GOVERNMENT RECRUITMENTS RAISED BY ANDHRA PRADESH GOVERNMENT

In what is a good news to the unemployed, the state government of Andhra Pradesh has recently increased the existing upper age limit from 34 to 40 years for all the future recruitments through Public Service Commission and other recruiting agencies in the state. This relaxation will be valid till September 30, 2017.

However, this rule is not going to be applicable for direct recruitment to the posts of uniformed services of Police department, Excise department, Fire department, Prisons and corrections and Forest department for which physical standards have been prescribed in the State and Subordinate Service Rules or in the relevant special or AdHoc rules. There is also an additional concession of two to four years to aspirants applying for government jobs from SC/ST and other categories.

Increase in age limit will benefit lakhs of aspirants who have been waiting for government notification since years and have crossed the age limit of 34 years. According to the chairman for APPSC, P Uday Bhaskar, the government has increased the age limit on the request of the commission. The APPSC has recently issued notifications for filling 1,004 posts, including 750 Group-II posts in various departments. The commission is gearing up to issue another notification for over 3,000 posts by the end of December. Notifications are expected for a majority of the vacant posts by the end of this fiscal.
