Washing machines can build up residue and develop a musty smell, especially high-efficiency models. Affresh washer cleaner tablets are made to break down that residue during a cleaning cycle. Always follow the instructions on the package and in your washer’s manual, because they can vary by product and machine.

How to use Affresh tablets

  1. Empty the washer completely. Do not include clothes.
  2. Place one tablet in the drum, or wherever the package directs.
  3. Select your washer’s Clean Washer cycle. If there isn’t one, use a normal cycle with hot water.
  4. Do not add detergent.
  5. Run the full cycle.

After the cycle

  • Wipe the drum and door with a soft cloth.
  • On front-loaders, clean the rubber gasket, including inside the folds.
  • Remove and rinse the detergent drawer if your machine allows it.
  • Clean the drain pump filter if your model has one, following the manual.

How often to clean

Many manufacturers suggest cleaning monthly, or about every 30 washes. Check your manual for its schedule.

Keep odors away

  • Use the correct amount of HE detergent, as too much leaves residue.
  • Take wet clothes out promptly.
  • Leave the door and drawer slightly open between washes, where it is safe to do so around children and pets.
