CAPITAL CITY CONSTRUCTION OF THE ANDHRA PRADESH STATE TO BEGIN IN JUNE 2015: CHIEF MINISTER

The government of Andhra Pradesh officially announced that the construction of the new capital city of the state is set to begin by June of 2015. The government of Andhra Pradesh earlier signed a memorandum of understanding with International Enterprise Singapore (IES), the company which is an arm of the Singapore government.

The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in a press conference where visiting Singapore Minister Eswaran was present mentioned that  the planning and construction work will be carried out by IES and a draft master plan for the capital city is expected to be arrive by the second week of February which is named as Stage-1 “visioning exercise” by his inner circle.

He also announced that the final master plan for the main capital area which is said to be spread over 8 square kilometers would be ready by the first week of June and the construction work for the capital city will be started once the master plan is approved. The Japanese government is said to be assisting the government of Andhra Pradesh in the matters of financial strategization and attracting investments saying “Once the master plan is approved, the construction work starts immediately and the government of Andhra Pradesh will sit and discuss development plans for the rest of Andhra Pradesh capital region with the governments of Singapore and Japan . We are going ahead positively and the Singapore and Japan governments are fully cooperating with us. The plans for industrialization and investments in the capital region will be assisted by Japan”.

Mr.Naidu said that thus far 1,779 farmers from villages surrounding the capital city have handed over 3,900 acres of land to the state government under the land pooling scheme for the construction of capital city and that he will make this a win-win situation for all as they build a world-class capital city with a variety of economic activity.

The Surbana International and the Jurong International groups were selected by the Singapore Government to create the master plan for the Capital of Andhra Pradesh.
