What Happened?
Wallace is the owner of a crisis management firm called Street Relations. He has filed a defamation lawsuit against Lively in a Texas federal court. Wallace is seeking at least $7 million and an official legal statement that he never harassed or retaliated against Lively.
Why Is Wallace Suing?
Lively had previously accused Wallace of creating fake online content to attack her and support Baldoni. She claimed Baldoni’s PR team used these posts to turn public opinion against her.
Lively’s lawyers view Wallace’s lawsuit as revenge for her filing a sexual harassment and retaliation complaint with the California Civil Rights Department. They say that Wallace’s lawsuit will be dismissed and that he should also be held responsible in court.
What Does Wallace Say?
Wallace’s lawyers argue that Lively had no proof of her claims against him. They insist:
He did not harass or retaliate against her.
He didn’t breach any contract with her (because no contract existed).
He was simply hired to help Baldoni and his company, Wayfarer, manage their public image.
Wallace was also connected to another crisis PR expert, Melissa Nathan, who worked with Baldoni. A text message from Nathan suggested she was coordinating a strategy with Wallace.
Online Attacks Against Lively
Lively, however, accused Wallace of trying to manipulate social media, particularly on Reddit, spreading negative posts about her in defense of Baldoni.
Baldoni didn’t respond to the allegation yet.
What’s Next?
This is part of a wider legal battle between Lively, Baldoni, and his camp over claims of harassment and campaigns to malign against online users.
