ANDHRA PRADESH TO SET UP ICONIC TOWERS FOR IT SECTOR

The Andhra Pradesh government is taking up another progressive initiative with the sole purpose of giving a boost to the IT sector in the state. On account of this, the government is going to build iconic IT towers in major cities in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

In this bid, the cabinet of Andhra Pradesh approved the proposal for the construction of iconic IT towers in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Anantapur and Tirupati. The Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Limited (APTSL) has been assigned the task of building these towers under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

Through these iconic IT towers, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants to create a space to the tune of 10 lakh square feet which will host the offices of major companies of IT and the start-ups. These mega projects are expected to be completed within a time-frame of 6 months to 1 year. The APTSL would henceforth promote information technology in the State and It would also participate in similar tasks in other states of India on behalf of AP.

While acting as a procurement agency for the government, this would also go for procurement of electronic and
computer devices worth more than Rs 50 lakh. However, if the devices are innovative, it would also take up procurement for the government even if the project cost is less than Rs 50 lakh.
