Updates for the Start menu, taskbar, file sharing, and the battery icon will be bettered. AI features will also improve. Here are the 7 most exciting changes coming soon:
1. New Start Menu Layouts
Microsoft is adding two new ways to see your apps in the Start menu.
You can choose to view it as a grid. This arranges apps by category, like iPhones and iPads.
If you don’t like it, you can always revert back to the old alphabetical list.
2. Easier File Sharing
Now you can drag a file up to the top of the screen to share.
A menu pops up with apps and contacts that you can share the file with.
This makes sharing much faster and easier.
3. Smaller Taskbar Icons
You can make app icons on the taskbar smaller to fit more icons.
The size of the taskbar remains the same, but more apps will be visible.
This is helpful for people who have many pinned apps or small screens.
4. Better Battery Icon
The battery icon will change colors based on the power status:
Green when charging
Red when in energy-saving mode
There will also be the ability to see the battery percentage next to the icon.
5. Easy access to emojis
A button for emojis will be added in taskbar
Till now, you can open the emoji panel by pressing Windows +. (dot), but nobody really knows that.
The new button will be easy to find and use emojis

6. Custom Lock Screen widgets
You will be able to add, remove, and reorder widgets on the lock screen.
Previously, Microsoft only allowed turning widgets on or off.
Now, you can choose which widgets appear first and how they look.
7. AI Features – Recall & Click To Do
“Recall” will let you search for things you worked on in the past using natural language.
“Click To Do” will help with tasks by analyzing what’s on your screen.
AI in Search will make finding documents, images, and files easier.
More Updates Coming Soon
Microsoft may add even more features to Windows 11 in 2025. Some of these updates are still being tested, so they could change before the final release. Stay tuned for more improvements!
